Summary

A World War One memorial commemorating the servicemen of Hardley. The memorial is in the form of a wheel-head cross made of stone. It was constructed in 1920.

Location: St Margaret’s churchyard, Lower Hardley Road, Hardley
Type: Wheel-head cross
Description: The memorial is in the form of a wheel-head cross made of stone. There is decorative knot-work carved on the cross face and the initials IHS carved in the centre. The cross is placed on a plinth on top of a two-step base. The front face of the cross shaft holds the phrase THEIR NAME LIVETH FOR EVERMORE in a carved scroll. The main inscription is placed on the front face of the plinth.
