Summary

A World War One memorial with World War Two additions commemorating the fallen servicemen of Gillingham. The memorial is in the form of a wheel-head cross made of granite. It was constructed around 1920.

Location: Church Road, Gillingham
Type: Wheel-head Cross
Description: The memorial is in the form of a wheel-head cross made of grey granite. It stands on a tapering plinth on top of a single-step base. The surface of memorial is rough-hewn. The granite base is placed on top of a concrete base surrounded by eight granite posts in the shape of obelisks. The inscription is placed on the front face of the plinth, with a recording of the King’s inspection on either side.
