Summary

A World War One memorial with World War Two additions commemorating the fallen servicemen of Catfield. The memorial is in the form of a Calvary cross made of stone. It was constructed in 1919. Names from WW2 were added during renovations in 1983.

Location: Adjacent to All Saints Church, Junction of Hall Road and Church Road, Caston
Type: Calvary Cross
Description: The memorial is in the form of a Calvary cross made of stone. The cross is placed on an upper plinth with “dentilated detailing around the cornice” (S2). Below the upper plinth is a tapering plinth holding the inscription panels in recessed faces. There are decorative floral carvings surrounding the inscriptions. The plinth sits atop a three-step octagonal base. The cross itself has a long shaft and a hipped cap on the head.

Unveiled: 5 November 1919 by the Dean of Norwich.
