Summary

A World War One memorial with World War Two additions commemorating the servicemen of Gresham. The memorial is in the form of an obelisk made of stone. It was constructed around 1920.

Location: All Saints Church, Church Lane, Gresham
Type: Obelisk
Description: The memorial is in the form of an obelisk made of stone. The obelisk is square and stands on top of a two-step base. The memorial is surrounded by a kerb filled with gravel. The main inscription is placed on the front face of the obelisk. The WW2 inscription was added to the front face of the top step of the base.

Unveiled: Assumed planned and erected around 1920, when the majority of Norfolk’s war memorials were commissioned. Additional research required.
Inscription: TO/ THE/ GLORIOUS/ MEMORY/ OF THE/ GRESHAM/ MEN/ WHO LAID DOWN/ THEIR LIVES/ FOR/ THEIR COUNTRY/ IN THE/ GREAT WAR/ (12 NAMES).
