Summary

A World War One memorial with World War Two additions commemorating the servicemen of the parish of Bintree. The memorial is in the form of a wheel-head cross made of grey granite. It was erected around 1920.

Location: Churchyard of St Swithin’s Church, Church Road, Bintree
Type: Wheel-head Cross
Description: The memorial is in the form of a wheel-head cross made of roughly hewn grey granite. There is a relief of a Sword of Sacrifice carved on the shaft on the cross. The cross sits on a tapering plinth on top of a single-stepped base. The plinth has smoothed faces bearing the inscriptions.

Unveiled: Assumed planned and erected around 1920, when the majority of Norfolk’s war memorials were commissioned. Additional research required.
