Summary

A World War One memorial commemorating the servicemen and one civilian from Beeston. The memorial is in the form of a wheel-head cross made of stone. It was erected around 1920.

Location: Churchyard of St Mary’s Church, Church Road, Beeston-next-Mileham
Type: Wheel-head cross
Description: The memorial is in the form of a wheel-head cross made of stone. It sits on a tapering plinth on a single-stepped, square base. The inscription is placed on the front face of the plinth. Eight servicemen are commemorated and Gracia Bolton, a munitions worker killed in the worst accidental munitions explosion in WW1 in Britain on 1 July 1918.
