Summary

A World War One memorial with World War Two additions commemorating the fallen servicemen of Coltishall and Hautbois. The memorial is in the form of a Celtic cross made of Hopton Wood stone. It was constructed in 1920.

Type: Celtic Cross
Description: The memorial is in the form of a Celtic cross made of Hopton Wood stone. The cross is 4.8 metres high with a tapering shaft that is octagonal at the top but four-sided at the bottom. This is atop a four-side plinth on top of a three-step octagonal base. The principal inscriptions are on the faces of the plinth, with the WW2 inscriptions added on the middle step of the base. The memorial was maintained weekly by a local resident, Mr B. Bean, whose three sons were on the memorial.

Unveiled: Sunday 8 August 1920 by Lieutenant-Colonel Jickling and dedicated by the Dean of Norwich.
