Summary

A World War One memorial commemorating the fallen servicemen of Fring. The memorial is in the form of a wheel-head cross made of grey granite. It was constructed around 1920.

Type: Wheel-head cross
Description: The memorial is in the form of a wheel-head cross made of rough grey granite which stands approximately 2.5 metres high. There is a carved relief of a reversed Sword of Sacrifice on the front face of the cross. The cross stands atop a tapering plinth on top of a single-step base. The inscription is on the front face of the plinth in a smooth recess.

Cost: Possibly funded by the Lord of the Manor.
Unveiled: Assumed planned and erected around 1920, when the majority of Norfolk’s war memorials were commissioned. Additional research required.
