Summary

Post medieval field boundaries are visible as low earthworks on visualised lidar data, from a survey flown in 2017. Most are depicted on 19th century maps, but some are not. While clearly in use in the post medieval period, a medieval origin for some or all of the boundaries is possible. As the lidar survey was flown relatively recently, it is likely that the earthworks still survive.

Map

Post medieval field boundaries are visible as low earthworks on visualised lidar data, from a survey flown in 2017 (S1). Most are depicted on 19th century maps, such as Longham Tithe Map (S2), but some are not; only these otherwise unmapped boundaries have been mapped by the project. While clearly in use in the post medieval period, a medieval origin for some or all of the boundaries is possible. As the lidar survey was flown relatively recently, it is likely that the earthworks still survive.
