Map

October 2023. Wendling Beck and Fransham Aerial Investigation and Mapping (AIM) Project.
Ridge and furrow of probable post medieval date is visible as earthworks, now partially levelled, on aerial photographs and visualised lidar data (S1-S2). The ridges are relatively straight and narrow (less than 5m wide), suggesting they are of post medieval rather than medieval date. They also appear to overlie the earthworks of former boundary ditches, possibly defining fields or paddocks (NHER 67654), which are themselves likely to be of medieval to post medieval date. At their southern end, the ridges appear to themselves be overlain by an extant field boundary. As the lidar survey was flown relatively recently (2017) it is probable that the surviving earthworks (the northern part of the broadly east-west oriented block in the southeast corner) remain extant.
