Full Description
September 2023. Wendling Beck and Fransham Aerial Investigation and Mapping (AIM) Project.
A series of earthwork banks and a section of ditch, which may relate to probable medieval to post medieval field boundaries are seen on aerial photographs and on recent (2017) visualised lidar data (S1-S2). It is possible that the features may represent more than one phase of activity. It is also possible that the ditch centred at approximately (TF 8675 1292) may have related to a former post medieval drainage ditch. The features are not recorded on the readily available historic maps such as S3. The probable field boundaries are seen as earthworks on recent (2017) visualised lidar data (S1) and on recent (2022) aerial photographs (S2). It is therefore likely that the features still survive as earthworks.
