Map

September 2023. Wendling Beck and Fransham Aerial Investigation and Mapping (AIM) Project.
A circular banked feature of a possible post medieval to modern date can be seen as an earthwork on recent (2017) visualised lidar data (S2). The feature consists of a circular earthwork bank which appears to enclose a tree (visible on S1 and S3). It is possible that the feature may relate to a tree enclosure ring. The feature is likely to be modern in date, although, a post medieval date for the feature cannot be ruled out. An earthwork mound can be seen in the centre of the feature (centred at approximately TF 8659 1291) on the visualised lidar data (S2). The mound feature likely relates to the base of the tree and has therefore has not been mapped. As the feature seen on the recent visualised lidar data, it is likely that the feature still survives as an earthwork. The feature is not visible on the readily available historic maps such as S4 or S5.
