Map

June 2019. Trial Trenching.
Evaluation of proposed development site.
The four trenches excavated revealed only a single ditch. This north-west to south-east aligned feature lay at the southern end of the site and was probably associated with a similarly-aligned cropmark visible on aerial photographs of this location (part of a complex group recorded under NHER 36289). The age of this feature was uncertain as finds were limited to two prehistoric worked flints. The orientation of the ditch, perpendicular to the Yarmouth Road does though suggest it was most likely associated with a medieval or post-medieval field boundary.
No unstratified finds were recovered.
See report (S1) for further details.
An archive associated with this work has been deposited with Norwich Castle Museum (NWHCM : 2019.239).
