Map

September 2023. Wendling Beck and Fransham Aerial Investigation and Mapping (AIM) Project.
The earthworks (since levelled) of possible medieval to post medieval trackway or road can be seen on aerial photographs and relatively recent (2017) visualised lidar data (S1-S4). The date of the feature is uncertain. Although the feature may date to the medieval to post medieval period, an earlier date cannot be ruled out. The feature can be seen as an earthwork on the 1940s aerial photographs (S1). The majority of the feature is subsequently levelled and is seen as a soilmark and cropmark on later aerial photographs (S2-S3). A section of ditch can be seen as a low earthwork on visualised lidar date from a survey flown in 2017 (S4). However, the feature appears to have been levelled on recent (2022) aerial photographs (S5).
