Summary

Metal-detecting at this location between 2001 and 2004 recovered Roman and Late Saxon/medieval pottery sherds; a Roman tegula fragment; Late Iron Age, Roman and medieval coins (including a Roman coin hoard comprising two coins corroded together); a post-medieval token and a range of other, undatable and Bronze Age to post-medieval metal objects. These metal finds include an undatable unidentified copper alloy object; a Bronze Age copper alloy awl and copper alloy casting sprue fragment; a Late Bronze Age flesh hook; an Iron Age to medieval toggle; a Late Iron Age/Roman brooch and terret; Roman brooches, a buckle, strap end, finger ring, bracelet fragment, strap loop, seal-box lid, cosmetic mortar, miniature dog figurine, miniature votive copy of a Bronze Age axehead, copper alloy pins, copper alloy vessel handle, and unidentified globular copper alloy object; Roman or later unidentified copper alloy objects; an Early Saxon brooch and sleeve clasp; Middle Saxon pins; a Middle/Late Saxon brooch; a Late Saxon strap end; a possible Late Saxon finger ring; a medieval buckle, strap mount, clip and copper alloy seal matrix; a medieval/post-medieval lid pull from ewer and a post-medieval button, openwork probable furniture mount and coin weight.
