Summary

These 18th- and 19th-century walls form the southern boundary of the churchyard of St Peter and St Paul's Church (NHER 2698). They are built primarily from brick, although their fabric also incorporates some flint and stone. These walls are listed Grade II, along with a cast iron gate of mid-19th-century date at their eastern end.

Listing Description excerpt:

Churchyard walls east of White Lodge [NHER 37599] (including churchyard gates at east end):
"Churchyard walls and gate. 18th and 19th century. Red brick, terminating at east end with mixed brick and flint with some stone. Gate of c.1840-1850. Cast iron. Two semicircular screens with gates between them hinged to a central stile of two square-section verticals. To left is a gate under a low overthrow for dog-cart."

Churchyard walls to west of White Lodge [NHER 37599]:
"Churchyard walls. 18th and 19th century. Red brick laid in Flemish and English bond with saddleback brick coping."

The iron gate was added to the listing for the walls east of White Lodge in 1995, when iron gates of a similar age at the western entrance to the churchyard were also listed (NHER 68123).
