Full Description
July 2012. Watching Brief.
Monitoring of groundworks associated with construction of car park and erection of storage building.
Stripping of turf within the footprint of the carpark revealed no archaeologically-significant features or deposits. The maximum depth of the excavations was though only 0.15m below present ground level, with only the topsoil layer disturbed (the base of which was not reached).
Finds were limited to an abraded prehistoric worked flint flake and a fragment of burnt flint.
See report (S1) for further details.
