Full Description
March 2024. Wendling Beck and Fransham Aerial Investigation and Mapping (AIM) Project.
Several blocks of ridge and furrow, probably of post medieval date, are visible as earthworks on 1940s aerial photographs (S1-S2). Recent aerial photographs (from 2022, S3)) show that the area has been built over and the earthworks presumably levelled and perhaps destroyed. The ridges are very straight and fairly narrow (approximately 4m wide), suggesting they are post medieval rather than medieval in date. Several of the blocks are cut by the Wymondham to Wells railway line (NHER 13588), which was constructed in the 19th century.
S. Tremlett (Norfolk Historic Environment Service), 4 March 2024.
