Map

March 2024. Wendling Beck and Fransham Aerial Investigation and Mapping (AIM) Project.
A section of probable Roman road is visible as a very low earthwork on visualised lidar data (S2). As the lidar survey was flown relatively recently (2017) it is likely that the feature still survives. The feature follows the alignment of the Roman road recorded more broadly as NHER 3697. The earthworks also follow the alignment of the adjacent post medieval to modern field boundary which is recorded on the readily accessible historic maps (such as S4) and visible as an extant feature on the aerial photographs (S1 and S3). The mapped earthworks likely relate to a section of Roman road. However, it is possible that the earthworks could be associated with the adjacent post medieval to modern field boundary.
