Summary

A probable post medieval tree ring and/or pond is visible as a poorly defined earthwork on aerial photographs, and also depicted on historical maps. Visualised lidar data from a survey flown in 2017 shows the area as being very disturbed, but the earthwork appears to at least partially survive. It is one of several tree rings recorded within Vicarage Park (NHER 33465).

Map

March 2024. Wendling Beck and Fransham Aerial Investigation and Mapping (AIM) Project.
A probable post medieval tree ring and/or pond is visible as a poorly defined earthwork on aerial photographs (S1), and also depicted on the Ordnance Survey 1st edition 6 inch map (S2). Visualised lidar data from a survey flown in 2017 (S3) shows the area as being very disturbed, but the earthwork appears to at least partially survive. It is probably one of several tree rings recorded within Vicarage Park (NHER 33465). The earthwork is so poorly defined that it is difficult to make out its form on the aerial photographs and it has been mapped by extent. On the Ordnance Survey 1st edition 6 inch map it appears to be marked as both a tree clump and possibly a pond.
