Summary

The earthworks of post medieval water meadows are seen on aerial photographs taken in 1946. The earthworks are not visible on recent aerial photographs or on visualised lidar data from a survey flown in 2017. The water meadows are presumed to have been subsequently levelled by the creation of a lake. The water meadows are most likely associated with Lexham hall (NHER 4089) and park (NHER 30469).

The earthworks of post medieval water meadows are seen on aerial photographs taken in 1946 (S1-S3). The water meadows are presumed to have been levelled by the creation of a lake which is visible on later (1976) aerial photographs (S4). The earthworks are not visible on recent (2022) aerial photographs or on visualised lidar data from a survey flown in 2017 (S5). Although, it is possible that some of the features may still survive as very low earthworks. The water meadows are most likely associated with Lexham Hall (NHER 4089) and park (NHER 30469). It is also possible that some of the features recorded within the mapped extent may relate to post medieval to modern drainage.
