Summary

Possible medieval to post medieval field boundaries are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs. The features are not visible on visualised lidar date from a survey flown in 2017, and have presumably been levelled. It is also possible that the linear ditch features could have related to post medieval drainage ditches.

Map

March 2024. Wendling Beck and Fransham Aerial Investigation and Mapping (AIM) Project.
Possible medieval to post medieval field boundaries are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs (S1-S4). The features are not visible on visualised lidar date from a survey flown in 2017 (S5) and have presumably been levelled. The date of the features is unknown. However, a medieval to post medieval date is likely. It is also possible that the linear ditch features could have related to post medieval drainage ditches. The features are not recorded on the readily accessible historic maps such as S6.
