Full Description
April 2023. Trial Trenching.
Evaluation of proposed development site.
The three trenches excavated revealed only a single north-east to south-west aligned ditch. This ditch contained two flint flakes of probable Bronze Age or Iron Age date, both of which are in a very rolled condition – suggesting they were probably residual.
Several test pits dug by the developer to determine the nature of the underlying deposits were also monitored. No archaeologically-significant features or deposits were noted within these geotechnical pits.
Unstratified finds were limited to an additional prehistoric flint flake, Roman and post-medieval coins, a post-medieval jetton and a post-medieval buckle and furniture mount.
See report (S1) for further details.
