Summary

A low earthwork mound and sections of a surrounding ditch, of an unknown but possible Bronze Age date, are visible on visualised lidar data. As the lidar survey was flown relatively recently (2017) it is likely that the earthworks still survive. The features may relate to a Bronze Age round barrow.

Map

March 2024. Wendling Beck and Fransham Aerial Investigation and Mapping (AIM) Project.
A low earthwork mound and sections of a surrounding ditch, of an unknown but possible Bronze Age date, are visible on visualised lidar data (S1). As the lidar survey was flown relatively recently (2017) it is likely that the earthworks still survive. The date of the features is unknown. However, it is possible that the mound and ditch may relate to a Bronze Age round barrow. The mound and ditch appear to be cut by a modern track or drain (not mapped) also visible on the visualised lidar data.
