Full Description
May 2024. Wendling Beck and Fransham Aerial Investigation and Mapping (AIM) Project.
The earthworks of probable medieval to post medieval boundary ditches are visible on aerial photographs taken in 1946 (S1). The earthworks of one of the possible boundaries (centred at approximately TF 9819 0942) is visible on the relatively recent (2017) visualised lidar data (S2) and likely still survives as a low earthwork. The second possible boundary (centred at approximately TF 9827 0940) is not visible on the visualised lidar data and is presumed to have been levelled. The features may relate to former medieval to post medieval field boundaries. Although the features may relate to medieval to post medieval boundaries, the possibility that the features could relate to post medieval drainage ditches cannot be ruled out. The features are not recorded on the readily accessible historic maps such as S3 and S4.
