Full Description
November 2023. Wendling Beck and Fransham Aerial Investigation and Mapping (AIM) Project.
The cropmarks of possible field boundaries of an unknown date are seen on aerial photographs (S1). Although the date of the features is unknown, an Iron Age to Roman date is possible. However, a later medieval date for the features also cannot be ruled out. The features do not appear on the readily available historic maps such as Ordnance Survey 1st edition 6" map (S2). Mulit-period finds (NHER 20519 and NHER 31147) have been previously recovered from the surrounding area. It has been previously suggested that the recovered finds could indicate the sites of Roman and medieval settlement NHER 20519).
J. Powell (Norfolk Historic Environment Service), 22 November 2023.
