Summary

Probable medieval field boundaries and possible ridge and furrow can be seen as earthworks on aerial photographs and on relatively recent (2017) visualised lidar data. As the lidar survey was flow relatively recently (2017), the features visible on the visualised lidar data likely still survive as earthworks. The features not visible on the visualised lidar data but are visible on earlier aerial photographs are presumed to have been levelled or possibly survive as very low earthworks.

Map

Probable medieval field boundaries and possible ridge and furrow can be seen as earthworks on aerial photographs and on relatively recent (2017) visualised lidar data (S1-S6). It is likely that the features are medieval in date. Although, a post medieval date for the features cannot be ruled out. The features are in close proximity to a previously recorded possible medieval hollow way to the north (NHER 29758) and possible medieval tofts (NHER 16891) to the west. The features are visible as earthworks on aerial sources from multiple dates including 1946, 1976, 1988 and 2022. Some of the features are also visible on the relatively recent (2017) visualised lidar data. As the lidar survey was flow relatively recently (2017), the features visible on the visualised lidar data likely still survives as earthworks. The features not visible S5 but are visible on earlier aerial photographs are presumed to have been levelled or possibly survive as very low earthworks
