Summary

A single trial trench excavated at this location in 2020 revealed no archaeologically-significant features or deposits. A Roman pottery sherd was the only find recovered.

Evaluation of proposed development site.
The single trench excavated revealed no archaeologically-significant remains.
A deep deposit sequence was exposed, with a subsoil layer and a buried topsoil overlain by a made ground deposit and the modern topsoil. Natural chalk was only exposed within a test pit dug at one end of the trench, at a depth of 1.55m below present ground level.
A single Roman pottery sherd was recovered from the subsoil.
