Full Description
October 2017-March 2018. Geophysical Survey.
Magnetometer survey of site on proposed route of onshore cable for Norfolk Vanguard and Boreas Offshore Wind Farms (Area F83).
Only a single response is regarded as being of potential archaeological interest – a north-west to south-east aligned linear anomaly that corresponds with one of several cropmarks now mapped at this location (all part of a group of undated but potentially Late Iron Age to Roman remains recorded as NHER 67066). It appears that several weak linear trends at the western end of the site may also correspond with cropmarks in this group, although these are all interpreted as being the result of recent agricultural activity. There was though no trace of any surviving sub-surface associated with a series of north-west to south-east and north-east to south-west aligned cropmarks mapped in the eastern half of the site.
A number of scattered discrete dipolar anomalies are likely to represent ferrous objects on or close to the surface (most likely modern debris). The remaining discrete anomalies are all of probable geological origin.
Information from draft report. Final version awaited.
