Map

The earthworks (since levelled) of a series of probable medieval to post medieval field boundaries and pit features, which may relate to medieval to post medieval ponds or areas of extraction, are visible on aerial photographs taken in 1946 (S1). The features are presumed to have been levelled, as the features are not visible on aerial photographs taken in 1971 (S2) or on the recent (2017) visualised lidar data (S3). The sections of approximately northeast to southwest aligned boundary banks in the west of the area (centred at approximately TF 9178 1047 and TF 9183 1059) may relate to field boundaries or boundary banks associated with a post medieval trackway (not mapped) recorded on the readily accessible historic maps (S4-S7). The features may have been part of a wider field system and may have related to an area of medieval to post medieval ridge and furrow (NHER 67621) and medieval to post medieval settlement (NHER 67620), in close proximity to the north.
