Full Description
November 2018. Geophysical Survey.
Magnetometer survey of proposed development site (Area 3).
This survey identified no responses of definite or likely archaeological interest.
Although various weak linear trends were noted these are all of uncertain origin and most likely the result of recent agricultural activity or natural variations in the underlying geology.
There was therefore no evidence for surviving sub-surface remains associated with a possible possible ring-ditch visible as a cropmark on aerial images at TG 2206 4034 (NHER 39112). It should though be noted that this survey also failed to identify any trace of two former field boundaries shown on the Ordnance Survey First Edition Six-inch map (S1) – suggesting conditions were possibly not particularly conducive to the production of measurable magnetic anomalies.
Information from draft report. Final version awaited.
