Summary

Between 1994 and 1998 metal-detecting recovered a number of objects that can only be provenanced to these two fields. These poorly-located finds include a possible Neolithic flint axe-thinning flake; a possible Iron Age pottery sherd; Roman pottery sherds; Roman coins; a post-medieval jetton and a number of other metal objects, including Roman brooches; medieval to post-medieval dress accessories and a probable medieval lead wall decoration.

1994-1995. Metal-detecting.
Poorly-located finds recorded as coming from areas of NHER 1554 (original extent, now Context 8), NHER 1558 (now NHER 1554 Context 4), NHER 17626 and NHER 33626 (now NHER 1554 Context 9).
10 Roman brooches.

1997-1998. Metal-detecting.
Finds recorded as coming from four sites but not differentiated - areas of NHER 1554 (original extent, now Context 8), NHER 1555, NHER 1558 (now NHER 1554 Context 4) and NHER 17626.
1 ?Neolithic flint possible axe-thinning flake.
1 ?Iron Age pottery sherd.
12 Roman coins, pottery sherds and 10 brooches.
Medieval buckle, strap end, bar mount and lead probable wall decoration in shape of an oak leaf.
Medieval/post-medieval buckle.
1 post-medieval jetton and 3 buttons.
