Summary

In 2022 a survey of molehills and other disturbed ground at this location recovered a range of finds, including prehistoric flint flakes; Middle Saxon, Late Saxon, medieval and post-medieval pottery sherds; medieval and post-medieval brick and tile fragments; medieval/post-medieval stone roof tiles; architectural squared flints; post-medieval clay tobacco pipe fragments; undated animal bone and shell fragments.

Molehills in northern and central parts of field examined as part of National Lottery Heritage Fund funded 'The Past is All Around Us' project. Finds recovered included:
4 undated iron nails, 1 iron staple, 42 animal bone fragments, 4 burnt flints, 8 lime mortar fragments, 11 oyster shells, 8 cockle shells, 2 whelk shells and 12 miscellaneous mollusc shell fragments.
2 prehistoric flint flakes.
1 Middle Saxon pottery sherd.
1 Late Saxon pottery sherd.
29 medieval pottery sherds, 52 roof tile fragments, 5 brick fragments and 2 undiagnostic ceramic building material fragments.
1 ?medieval limestone fragment and 2 pieces of squared flint.
16 medieval/post-medieval Collyweston stone roof slate fragments.
29 post-medieval pottery sherds, 45 roof tile fragments, 42 brick fragments, 222 undiagnostic ceramic building material fragments, 5 clay tobacco pipe fragments, 1 vessel glass fragment, 1 piece of window glass and a tap.

Finds were also recovered from disturbed ground at a site listed simply as 'tennis court', the exact location of which is not recorded. These included:
8 undated pieces of lime mortar, 3 animal bone fragments, 1 oyster shell and 2 cockle shells.
1 Late Saxon pottery sherd.
1 medieval pottery sherd and 4 brick fragments.
1 medieval/post-medieval glazed tile fragment and 1 Collyweston stone roof slate fragment.
7 post-medieval pottery sherds and 50 undiagnostic ceramic building material fragments.
