Summary

A World War One memorial in the form of a wheel-head cross made of stone commemorating four servicemen from Fersfield. It was erected in 1921.

Type: Wheel-head cross
Description: The memorial is in the form of a wheel-head cross made of stone. It sits on a capped plinth on top of a three-step base. The inscription is displayed on the front face of the plinth.

Constructed/Sculpted By: Cooley and Son
Cost: £49, paid by public subscription. The leftover £2 7s 7d was donated to the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital.
Unveiled: Unveiled on 13 February 1921 by Colonel Mornement and dedicated by the Lord Bishop of Norwich.
Inscription: IN MEMORY OF/ THE MEN OF THIS PARISH/ WHO FELL IN THE GREAT/ WAR 1914 – 1918/ (NAMES)/ GREATER LOVE HATH NO/ MAN THAN THIS THAT A/ MAN LAY DOWN HIS/ LIFE FOR HIS FRIENDS
