Summary

A test pit was dug at this location in 2017 as part of the Norfolk Archaeological Trust's 'Imagined Land' project. Finds recovered included potentially Mesolithic/Early Neolithic and Neolithic/Bronze Age worked flints; single Iron Age and Late Saxon pottery sherds; post-medieval roof tile fragments; a piece of post-medieval clay tobacco pipe; a medieval/post-medieval iron nail and a post-medieval iron buckle.

Excavation of test pit as part of the Norfolk Archaeological Trust's 'Imagined Land' project - a community archaeology project funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund (Test Pit 3). A natural sandy gravel deposit was encountered at a depth of 0.67m, which was overlain by a sandy subsoil. Finds recovered included:
1 ?Mesolithic/Early Neolithic snapped flint bladelet.
2 Neolithic/Bronze Age flint flakes and 2 chips.
1 Early/Middle Iron Age pottery sherd.
1 Late Saxon pottery sherd.
Medieval/post-medieval iron nail.
2 post-medieval roof tile fragments, 1 clay tobacco pipe fragment and an iron buckle.
