Map

March-September 2016, Watching Brief.
Monitoring of groundworks associated with construction of two new dwellings.
The foundation trenches excavated for the new buildings exposed two relatively small, circular pits. These were probably unrelated, having markedly different fills. Neither produced any dating evidence but it is suggested that one or both may have been modern.
Although there was evidence to suggest that some degree of truncation had occurred during the construction of the surrounding estate this does not appear to have been severe - affecting only the upper portion of the topsoil layer.
See report (S1) for further details.
An archive associated with this work has been deposited with Norwich Castle Museum (NWHCM : 2025.113).
