Full Description
June 2024. Casual Observation.
Previously unrecorded World War Two spigot mortar pedestal noted by member of public [1] just inside boundary of private garden following clearance work. See photograph (S1).
The pedestal is sub-hexagonal with an intact stainless steel spigot and appears to have been built against a concrete wall that was presumably added to reinforce the existing boundary wall. Only the uppermost portion of the pedestal was visible so it is currently unclear whether any other elements of the emplacement survive. It was positioned to defend the bridge across the Little Ouse river approximately 75m to the north-east.

This spigot mortar pedestal was observed by another member of the public in 2025 [2], following the erection of a new boundary fence. It was subsequently added to the 'Extended Defence of Britain Online' dataset (S2).
