Summary

Probable medieval to post medieval field boundaries and possible strip fields are visible as soilmarks and low earthworks on aerial photographs and visualised lidar data. Many of the features correspond with boundaries depicted on the Tithe Map, but others do not. As the lidar survey was flown relatively recently (2017) it is probable that the earthworks still survive.

Map

April 2025. Wendling Beck and Fransham Aerial Investigation and Mapping (AIM) Project.
Probable medieval to post medieval field boundaries and possible strip fields are visible as soilmarks and low earthworks on aerial photographs (S1) and visualised lidar data (S2). Many of the features correspond with boundaries depicted on the Tithe Map, but others do not, and these have been mapped, while the area taken up by the features as a whole has been mapped by extent. As the lidar survey was flown relatively recently (2017) it is probable that the earthworks still survive.
