Summary

Two mounds of unknown date are visible as earthworks on visualised lidar data, from a survey flown in 2017. Their origin and function are unknown, but they lie a short distance to the west of Wendling Abbey (NHER 7281) and could be associated with this site. As the lidar survey was flown relatively recently, it is probable that the earthworks still survive.

Map

Two mounds of unknown date are visible as earthworks on visualised lidar data, from a survey flown in 2017 (S1). Their origin and function are unknown, but they lie a short distance to the west of Wendling Abbey (NHER 7281) and could be associated with this site. Equally, they could instead be of recent origin and no archaeological significance. Faint ring ditches corresponding to the two mounds may be faintly visible as cropmarks on 1940s aerial photographs (S2), but the features are certainly not prominent. As the lidar survey was flown relatively recently, it is probable that the earthworks still survive.
