June 2018. Strip Map and Sample Excavation.
Excavation of site of new irrigation reservoir.
Stripping of the topsoil (which lay directly above the natural sandy chalk) revealed a small pit and a post-hole – neither of which produced any dating evidence. Samples from their fills were found to contain charcoal and fragments of burnt flint.
