Summary

Metal-detecting at this location in 2019 recovered a Late Bronze Age hoard of two copper alloy objects. These items were identified as the broken tip of a socketed axehead and a casting sprue from an uncertain object.

Late Bronze Age socketed axehead fragment (S1) and copper alloy casting sprue from an uncertain object.
Hoards such as this that comprise both object fragments and metalworking waste are commonly known as 'founders hoards' or 'metalworkers' hoards'.

This hoard was returned to the finder after being disclaimed as Treasure (Ref: 2021 T91).
