Map

September 2012. Watching Brief.
Monitoring of groundworks associated with installation of two wind turbine bases and associated cabling.
These deep excavations revealed no archaeologically-significant features or deposits, with the natural clays and silts found to lie directly below the current topsoil. No unstratified finds were recovered.
It should be noted that the northernmost c.20m of the main cable trench – the section closest to the route of the Fen Causeway Roman road (NHER 2796) - was tunnel excavated using a ‘moling’ machine so archaeological monitoring of this section was not possible.
See report (S1) for further details.
An archive associated with this work has been deposited with Norwich Castle Museum (NWHCM : 2013.95).
