Full Description
April-May 2022. Metal-detecting. [1].
Found in within 50m of each other:
2 Late Saxon coins - both silver pennies of Aethelred II. These coins are separated by four issues and about 12 years so are unlikely to have been in circulation at the same time - suggesting they are more likely to represent part of a curated hoard rather than casual losses.
Information from PAS import.
These coins were disclaimed as Treasure (Ref: 2022 T722) and returned to the finder.
P. Watkins (HES), 3 July 2025.
