Map

February 2016. Geophysical Survey.
Magnetometer survey of site on proposed route of Poringland to Whitlingham Rising Main pipeline (Field 6).
This survey identified no potentially archaeologically-significant anomalies.
Areas of magnetic disturbance at the margins of the field were probably caused by ferrous material on or close to the surface – most likely modern debris.
Information from draft report. Final version awaited.
P. Watkins (HES), 17 January 2026.

January-February 2017. Watching Brief.
Monitoring of topsoil stripping along route of Poringland to Whitlingham Rising Main pipeline (Site 6).
Three probable field boundary ditches were recorded during this work, two aligned east-to-west and one north-west to south-east. None produced any dating evidence, although the northernmost feature was close to position of a similarly-aligned former field boundary shown on the Ordnance Survey First Edition map (S1).
Information from report uploaded to OASIS. HER copy awaited.
P. Watkins (HES), 17 January 2026.
