Map

May 2020-January 2021. Geophysical Survey.
Magnetometer survey of site on proposed route of onshore cable for Norfolk Vanguard and Boreas Offshore Wind Farms (Area 205).
This survey identified no potentially archaeologically-significant anomalies.
A large area of magnetic disturbance at the western end of the site is associated with a large former quarry pit shown on the Ordnance Survey First Edition Six-inch map (S1).
Numerous much smaller areas of magnetic enhancement are all thought to result from variations in the underlying geology.
Scattered dipolar anomalies were probably caused by ferrous material on or close to the surface, most likely modern debris.
Information from draft report. Final version awaited.
P. Watkins (HES), 5 December 2025.

October 2020-June 2021. Trial Trenching.
Evaluation of site on proposed route of onshore cable for Norfolk Vanguard and Boreas Offshore Wind Farms (Area F205; Trench 259).
The single trench excavated at this location revealed a north-east to south-west aligned ditch. Although this feature produced no dating evidence its orientation suggests it was possibly post-medieval.
Information from draft report. Final version awaited.
P. Watkins (HES), 5 December 2025.
