Full Description
April-May 2018. Watching Brief.
Monitoring of groundworks associated with construction of temporary carparking area.
The site was subject to only minimal ground reduction, stripping being limited to the modern topsoil. As a result, little of archaeological interest was revealed. The only feature of note was an area of brick and pamment flooring at TG 1745 2780, which coincided with the site of a small structure shown on the Ordnance Survey First Edition 25-inch map (S1).
No unstratified finds were recovered at this location.
See report (S2) for further details.
An archive associated with this work has been deposited with Norwich Castle Museum (NWHCM : 2019.170).
