Summary

A systematic fieldwalking and metal-detector survey of part of this field in 2021 recovered a small number of prehistoric worked flints; medieval and post-medieval coins; a post-medieval token and a number of other, predominantly undated and late post-medieval/modern metal objects. The more notable metal finds included a potentially medieval/post-medieval mount and post-medieval buttons, a crotal bell and lead pistol balls.

Full Description

January-February 2025. Systematic Fieldwalking and Metal-detecting Survey.
Field survey on proposed route of onshore cable for Norfolk Vanguard and Boreas Offshore Wind Farms (Field 140).
No significant concentrations of material were identified. Finds recovered included:
1 prehistoric retouched flint flake and 1 flake.
8 undatable lead unidentified objects, a lead weight, piece of lead waste, unidentified copper alloy object and iron nail.
2 medieval coins.
?Medieval/post-medieval mount.
4 post-medieval coins, 1 token, 4 buttons, a crotal bell, 26 lead pistol balls and 2 lead carbine balls.
Post-medieval/modern domed furniture stud, mount, lead cloth or feedbag seal and small iron tool.
