Summary

A systematic fieldwalking and metal-detector survey of part of this field in 2021 recovered a small number of prehistoric worked flints; post-medieval pottery sherds; medieval and post-medieval coins; a medieval/post-medieval jetton and a number of other, predominantly undated and late post-medieval/modern metal objects. These metal finds include medieval/post-medieval buttons, a spur rowel and possible casket mount and a post-medieval button, crotal bell and various pieces of lead ammunition.

Full Description

January-February 2025. Systematic Fieldwalking and Metal-detecting Survey.
Field survey on proposed route of onshore cable for Norfolk Vanguard and Boreas Offshore Wind Farms (Field 153).
No significant concentrations of material were identified. Finds recovered included:
2 prehistoric flint flakes, 1 bladelet and 1 blade-like flake.
1 medieval coin.
2 lead unidentified objects, a lead weight, 9 pieces of lead waste and copper alloy unidentified object.
1 medieval/post-medieval jetton, 2 buttons, a spur rowel and ?casket mount.
6 post-medieval coins, 2 pottery sherds, a button, crotal bell, 2 lead musket balls, 1 lead carbine ball, 1 lead bullet and 1 lead pistol shot.
6 post-medieval/modern buttons, 3 domed furniture studs, a spoon, mount, lead ferrule, lead ?cloth seal and possible pewter plate fragment.
