Full Description
October 2022-February 2023. Geophysical Survey.
Magnetometer survey of part of large potential development site (Area 7).
The only response of note is a very straight west-north-west to east-south-east aligned linear anomaly that almost certainly represents an infilled field boundary ditch. The age of this feature is uncertain, although it is perpendicular with, and only present on one side of the Norwich Road, suggesting it is unlikely to be of great antiquity.
Although a number of discrete patches of magnetic disturbance were also recorded these are all thought to be the result of variations in the underlying geology.
Areas of magnetic disturbance at the margins of the field and scattered dipolar 'spikes' were probably caused by ferrous material on or close to the surface – most likely modern debris.
See report (S2) for further details.
