Map

November 2023. Watching Brief.
Monitoring of groundworks associated with construction of extensions to existing dwelling.
These works revealed a relatively deep sequence of soil deposits, particularly in the south-eastern part of the site. The deep footing trenches excavated revealed three large features, all of which were probably pits - none of which produced any dating evidence. The function of these pits is also uncertain, although it is that had probably been deliberately infilled soon after being dug, rather than being left open to the elements for any length of time.
No unstratified finds were recovered.
See report (S1) for further details.
An archive associated with this work has been deposited with Norwich Castle Museum (NWHCM : 2023.163).
